“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation of our sins.”
1 JOHN 4:10
When you woke up this morning, did you feel perfectly loved? Did you remember God’s great love for you at the beginning of your day? We may know the truth, but we have plenty of doubts, discouragements and distractions in life that often keep our awareness of God’s great love at arm’s length.
Thankfully our God IS love. It is who He is – the very substance of Himself; therefore, He cannot and does not forget to love. Not only that, but we read in 1 John 4 that God gave us love; He gave us HIMSELF, in the form of Jesus. And after Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave us Himself through the Holy Spirit. Through His Spirit we have the ability to love as He loved and to awaken others to life, just as His love awakened us. The more we know Him, the more we know His love. The more we know His love, the more we demonstrate that love to others. May we become more like 1 John 4:16, which proclaims, “we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.”
