Romans 1:18 starts with “the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness.” (Romans 1:18 KJV)
What kind of God is this – who demands a penalty for sin, which He proves we all have committed? This God created everything, and His glory is made manifest in His love for creation. Yet what does scripture say? When they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:21 KJV)
Suddenly, questioning God’s demand for justice grows small, for we find the wrongdoing in not God’s wrath against ungodliness, but mankind’s rebellion against His authority.
Seeing God’s justice by demanding the penalty of death for sin should draw us to consider the state of our hearts. However, we find within God’s justice is a plan of salvation through the perfect mediator – Jesus Christ.
