Six times in John 10, Jesus references Himself as a Shepherd, including three times as the Good Shepherd. We learn here that the Good Shepherd lays down His life for sheep and knows who His sheep are. He becomes the door to the fold where the sheep sleep each night, keeping the bad guys out. His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. Take a minute to ponder this. His sheep know His voice because the Good Shepherd talks to them. He is not silent. He takes time to converse with us. His Word enables us to come to know Him and grow to love Him. And don’t miss out on this incredibly personal note in John 10:3 -> He calls each of us by name! What a Good Shepherd!
For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the [a]water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
