What does the phrase, “Jesus is King” mean? Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines King as “the chief or sovereign of a nation… invested with supreme authority over a nation, tribe or country.”
When I placed my faith in Jesus, He became king, or supreme authority, over me. This isn’t scary because He loves me unconditionally (John 3:16). He gave me new life, a living hope and an inheritance in heaven which will never go away (1 Peter 1:3-4).
Jesus is my King, and I want to live my life for Him, pursuing a right standing with Him, as well as faith, love, patience and humility (1 Timothy 6:11-12). One day, Jesus will return to reign as King of Kings (Revelation 19:11-16). To Him be honor and eternal dominion! (1 Timothy 6:16)
