It is difficult to wrap our minds around the enormity of what God reveals to us in the New Testament book of John: Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. He created everything there is—nothing exists that he didn’t make. John 1:1-3 NIV
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, playing key roles at the beginning and end and ever-present in between.
Here at Hillside we are reminded every week that Jesus Changes Everything. We even have t-shirts that make this proclamation in bold letters. Perhaps the most dramatic form of change is to create: to bring something from nothing into existence. So, not only does He change everything, He created everything.
When we allow Him to take control of our lives we die to ourselves and become new creations in Christ. He creates something completely fresh and unique, fashioned from nothing, just as He created the world from nothing.
And in the end, we joyfully look forward to Jesus welcoming us into eternity.
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:20-21 NIV
