July 3, 2020

Hi Hillside!

We are excited to gather together at Hillside this Sunday, July 5, but need to share an update from our local and state authorities regarding the use of masks.

Yesterday afternoon Governor Abbot joined Comal County in issuing an executive order requiring the use of face masks in certain settings. In light of this, we are asking everyone on our campus to wear a mask while indoors or while gathered at one of our outdoor community spaces (covered patios, decks, playground, shaded seating areas, etc.) for all on-campus gatherings; including our Sunday services, mid-week events, group activities, and other meetings. Our heart’s desire is to continue proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making disciples who press on to maturity in Him while providing facilities that are safe and secure for all visitors.

As a reminder, we are also asking everyone on our campus to observe the following procedures:

  • Observe all posted vehicle and pedestrian traffic signs on campus
  • Maintain at least six feet of social distancing at all times
  • Wash and/or sanitize hands upon entering any building on campus
  • If you are a member of the vulnerable population, we ask that you consider staying home
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing) at any time during the 7 days before you visit the campus, please stay home. If you develop symptoms while on campus, please notify our staff and leave immediately.

We will continue to provide Hillside in your Home, our online video worship service.

PHASE 1 | “PREPARE”

April 21, 2020

Hey Hillside! Hoping y’all are having a great start to your week and that you’re finding time for peace, joy and rest in the midst of this pandemic. We wanted to keep you updated as we extend the closure of our campus through Sunday, May 10. We will continue with Hillside in your Home on Sunday’s, as well as, online meetings for our bible studies and classes.

We’re excited about the potential to begin reopening certain parts of our campus in the months ahead and are working on a phased strategy that will adhere to our federal, state and local guidelines. Stay tuned for further updates in the weeks ahead!

Hillside Family, know that we love you, miss you, are praying for you and look forward to being together again soon! In the midst of this, we remain joyful knowing that Jesus still changes everything! That He continues to build His church and advance His Gospel. That God is with us and He promises to strengthen us as we look forward to His final and complete restoration of all things.

See you soon!

April 14, 2020

Hey Hillside! Thanks for continuing to check in for our COVID-19 updates. This week, we do not have a video, but just a couple of reminders for you that our campus is closed through the end of April and we will continue meeting off-site as Hillside in your Home, with bible studies and classes continuing to meet online as well.

We continue to encourage you to visit our Hillside Helps page to let us know how we can come alongside you or your loved ones in this time and serve you. A new addition to the page includes information on how to support Hillside Helps, for those who may be wanting to do so.

Hillside, we love you and are praying for you. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you stay connected and cared for.

April 7, 2020

14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

HEBREWS 4:14-16

Howdy Hillside,

In this week’s COVID-19 update, Pastor Matt shares 3 main points:

  1. This Easter Sunday, we will be taking communion together! Please don’t feel obligated to get out and purchase elements, just use bread and juice/wine or anything you already have at home. We will remember the death and burial of Jesus, and since it’s Easter, His resurrection!
  2. We are extending the closure of our campus through the end of April. We will continue as Hillside in your Home on April 19 and April 26. Our bible studies and classes will continue meeting online as well.
  3. Because of Jesus, our sympathetic High Priest, you can draw near to God the Father and receive grace and mercy in this time. God’s care for us is meant to be received in a very tangible way through the church body. The only way we can care well for each other in this season is to foster as much connection as we can. If you feel isolated or alone, PLEASE contact us and let us know how we can walk alongside and serve you in this time!

We’re all needed at times and we’re all needy at times. At Hillside, we long to be a nurturing and safe body, where people can be free to be vulnerable, to grow, and to flourish. If you find yourself needy in this season, our heart is to serve you. We encourage you to visit the Hillside Helps page on our website and complete the form at the bottom of the page.

We believe that Jesus Changes Everything and as we submit ourselves to His lordship: He changes our hearts, He changes our heads, and He frees our hands to love, serve and give generously. If you feel led to financially contribute to our Hillside Helps initiative, please indicate on your check or online donation that the funds are for “Benevolence”, so we can allocate accordingly.

We also wanted to update you in regards to our plans for “Building A Launchpad” in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the team continues to work on the project, they are doing so with caution, wisdom, and a focus on meeting the needs of our church family first and foremost. At the end of the day we know that our family is more important than our facilities.

Know that our elders and staff team love you and are praying for you. We have hope and rejoice alongside you knowing that God is still good, the gospel is advancing through adversity and eternal joy lies in front of us!

See you soon.

March 24, 2020

The Lord is gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
The Lord is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.

Psalms 145:8-9

Howdy Hillside,

As this virus progresses for us locally and shelter in place goes into effect for part of our Hillside family, we’ve made the decision to extend our Sunday Gatherings of Hillside in your Home through April 12, which is Easter Sunday. We will have more information in the days ahead to get you prepared for these gatherings.

We’ve also decided to have our staff work off-site. While our office will be closed to the public, there are several ways you can still get in touch with us!

Phone – 830-228-4673

Email – info@hillsidefellowship.org

Website – For specific needs, visit https://hillsidefellowship.org/hillside-helps/

Our desire is to help foster connection during this time of social distancing. We don’t want anyone to feel like they’re alone in this season. If you have a need, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and let us know. If you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram as we will be using these platforms to share encouragement, information and help keep our Hillside body connected.

We love you and we want to care for you so that you can care for those God has entrusted to you.

March 17, 2020

The gospel has always advanced through adversity, not in spite of adversity. At Hillside, we see this trying time, not as an obstacle, but an opportunity to be optimistic. To honor the latest recommendation from our local, state, and federal governments to formally restrict public gatherings in order to help contain the spread of COVID-19, we will not gather corporately at Hillside for weekend services. We will still get together virtually, it’s just going to be Hillside in your home. We will also temporarily suspend all planned events, irrespective of size, through at least April 1, 2020. Click here to visit our COVID-19 page to watch a video from Pastor Dave regarding a full update on Hillside’s COVID-19 strategy.

We encourage you to stream us live at our normal service times of 9, 10:30 and 12. You can access our live stream by visiting our homepage and clicking on the “Stream Live” button.

We are developing plans to continue being His hands and feet through this uncertain time. Be on the lookout for communication this week on how you can get involved! Please reach out to us if you have any questions by calling our office or emailing us at info@hillsidefellowship.org.

March 13, 2020

In light of the progression of the Coronavirus, we want to address the concern regarding Sunday gatherings, Wednesday Bible Studies and Community Group meetings. Be assured that we are monitoring the situation and have taken extra precautions to help keep our church family safe and healthy. Throughout the entire campus, we have spent extra time cleaning and sanitizing surfaces for our kids and adults. There are also ways we can work together as a church family to help keep everyone healthy:

  • Stay home and rest when you are sick.  If you or someone in your family is sick, please stay home and join us via Livestream instead
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes!
  • Wash hands often with soap and water. The CDC recommends washing for a full 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your face.

Hillside Kids families – please keep your children at home if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • fever, diarrhea or vomiting in the last 48 hours
  • green or yellow runny nose
  • eye or skin infections
  • other symptoms of illness

Our plan currently is to continue meeting as usual for all of our events. We do, however, encourage those who may feel uncomfortable about meeting in person to attend Sunday services online via our Livestream. We still plan to host our Super-Duper AWESOME Meeting  this Sunday, March 15 at 5:30 and will also Livestream this event, so it will be available to watch online. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will follow the guidelines provided by our local authorities. Should we need to suspend any of our scheduled gatherings, our plan will still be to offer them through our livestream platform, which can be accessed via our website. Please be on the lookout for any additional communication related to these changes.

Although it can be easy for us to feel consumed by the trials and worries that this virus brings, we want to keep our mission of making disciples before us as we strive to address the practical needs of our body at Hillside Fellowship and within the community around us. Please be on the lookout for future emails of possible ways to serve others.

While we take extra precautions to safeguard our Hillside gatherings and events, may our hope and peace remain in Jesus Christ. Pray for God the Father to give wisdom to those in leadership, health to those infected by this virus, and grace for His people to point a fearful world to the only Source of life and love.
