QUESTIONS:

  • Relational blowouts happen. When a relationship gets messy, what is your typical go-to response?  Do you withdraw, attack, avoid, defend yourself, blame, gossip, pretend everything is fine? Why do you think this is your go-to response?
  • Think about a time when a small disagreement became a much bigger conflict. What caused the situation to escalate? Looking back, what could you have done differently?
  • Reject Superiority: Why is it so tempting to make ourselves look right by making someone else look wrong? What does it look like to approach conflict with humility instead of superiority?
  • Release the debt: Why is it so hard to let go of a hurt and stop keeping score of what someone owes us? How can we forgive someone without pretending the hurt didn't happen or removing boundaries that may still be necessary?
  • Repay with kindness: Why is kindness difficult when someone has been unkind to you? What would it look like to overcome evil with good in a difficult relationship this week?
  • What is one specific step of relational repair God is calling you to this week?
