Aug 30, 2026Dave TookerProverbs: Formed by JesusProverbs 1:4-5,7,10-16,22
Notes Outline
OUTLINE:
- Simple Fool (Proverbs 1:4,22)
- Stubborn Fool (Proverbs 1:7)
- Scoffing Fool (Proverbs 1:22)
- Sinister Fool (Proverbs 1:10-16)
- Saved Fool (Proverbs 1:5)
QUESTIONS:
- We All Start as Fools: (Proverbs 22:15), and sin seeks to trap us in our sinful foolishness. Why is it easier to see someone else's sin and foolishness than our own? Where do you see this pattern in your own life? What is the danger of focusing on others' sin instead of our own?
- The Simple Fool: (Proverbs 1:4 + 22) Where are you most tempted to remain naive or uninformed spiritually rather than intentionally growing in wisdom?
- The Stubborn Fool: (Proverbs 1:7) Where are you most likely to be blocked off from receiving correction and input? How do you respond when others offer corrections? Where is Jesus leading you to relinquish control and receive correction?
- The Scoffing Fool: (Proverbs 1:22) The scoffer doesn't just reject wisdom, he mocks it. The scoffer props himself up by putting others down. Where are you most likely to recruit an audience to your cause rather than humbly pointing them to Jesus?
- The Sinister Fool: (Proverbs 1:10-16) The sinister fool invites people into what they know is wrong. What makes sinful invitations so attractive- even when we know where they lead? What do they offer to the flesh?
- The Saved Fool: (Proverbs 1:5) The saved fool is the one who knows they are a fool and receives instruction. What is one area of your life that you need to stop defending yourself and start asking, “Jesus, what do You want to teach me?”. Where is Jesus asking you to trade your need to be right for a willingness to be formed?
