Jesus in Genesis: There is MORE THAN What We Are Able to See

OUTLINE

• When we experience or cause evil/pain in this world, we must call it evil/pain and not minimize it (pre-Genesis 45-46)
• We must focus our eyes on our experiences; we must focus our eyes on the Lord (pre-Genesis 45-46)
• What we experience in this life is never fully explained by what we experience in this life (Genesis 45:1-15)
• Even when we cause evil/pain for another, we must realize that the Lord is working above/beyond what we can see (Genesis 45:1-5)
• On every page of the Bible, we see the Lord is advancing his plans AND we know that He is doing that in our lives as well (Genesis 46:1-7)

QUESTIONS:

1. As you listened to the sermon today, in what ways was the Lord speaking to your heart?

2. What part of this sermon did you need to hear the most? What response is the Lord seeking from you right now?

3. Has someone sinned against you and, instead of looking to the Lord to see what He wants to do in you, you have grown in bitterness toward or held a grudge against that person? What would it mean for you to put your eyes on the Lord in this situation? What might He want to be teaching you?

4. Are you one who has sinned against another and has had a difficult time forgiving yourself of the situation? What would it mean for you to put your eyes on the Lord and realize that He wants to use your actions in the other person’s life in ways that you cannot see?

5. Ask the Lord to help you see the BIGGER PICTURE of all that He is doing in your life as you live in this fallen world, where people sin against you and you sin against people. Ask the Lord to grow His church to forebear with one another in love, preserving the unity of the body.
