John: Jesus is God - Jesus Heals Peter's Shame

QUESTIONS:

1. (John 21:15) One of the by-products of sin is shame, the internal operating system that tells us we are disgusting, disappointing, unlovable, and unwanted. Where do you need to meet Jesus in your shame? Where is He surfacing shame in your life? Where do you tend to live out of your old name?

2. (John 21:15-17) Jesus runs a diagnostic on Peter to help him heal. Jesus often hurts us in order to heal us. Where has the Healer's hurt led to your healing?

3. (John 21:18-21) The greater the shame we carry, the greater the show we create to cover it. What coping mechanisms and methods have you picked up over the course of your life to help you cover shame? How does the Gospel, knowing that Jesus knows you to the core and loves you to the end of the cosmos, set you free from shame's grip?
