QUESTIONS:

1. What stood out most from the passage?

2. (John 10:7-15) Jesus gives two definitive “I am” statements in this passage, proclaiming that He is "the door” and “the good shepherd.” What do these statements tell us about who Jesus is? What is the impact of these statements for you and I, personally?

3. As sheep who are dependent on the caretaking of a shepherd, why is it essential that we belong to the Good Shepherd (Jesus) and not any of the lousy shepherds this world has to offer? What is the “abundant life” the Good Shepherd promises to give, and why is it better than what any other shepherd can offer?

4. (John 10:16) The Good Shepherd has one flock which all who belong to Him and know His voice are drawn into. How does this impact how we see the church and God’s great plan for redemption?

5. (John 10:17-18) Jesus freely laid down His life for His sheep by His own authority and power in obedience to the Father. Why is it so important that Jesus did this by His own authority? What do we see about His heart for His flock through this gracious act?

6. (John 10:19-21) As Jesus reveals Himself to be the promised Messiah and God Himself through His words and actions, each of us must answer the same question the Jewish people had in this passage: "Who is Jesus?” Who is Jesus to you, and what does that mean for your life?
