QUESTIONS:

1. What stood out most from the passage?

2. (John 7:25-36) What did people say about Jesus’ identity? What are some of the different things people say about Jesus’ identity today? Why was it important for people to understand whether or not Jesus was the Messiah?

3. (John 7:37-39) When people were debating about Jesus’ identity, what did He say about Himself? In light of Jesus’ words in v.37, what does He mean when He says, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink”? Describe a time when you were spiritually thirsty.

4. Describe each of the three different postures towards Jesus: 1) those who strong-arm Jesus, 2) those who stiff-arm Jesus, and 3) those who surrender to Jesus with open arms. Which is your natural tendency when things aren’t going your way? Explain.

5. What is one area of your life where the Holy Spirit is urging you to quit strong-arming or stiff-arming Jesus and surrender to Him? What is your next step?
