QUESTIONS:

1. (Luke 9:37-42) Where are you tempted to rely on your own strength or experience rather than on Jesus? What does true dependence on Jesus look like in your daily life? (John 15:5)
2. (Luke 9:43-45) A focus on our image blinds us to the mission and message of Jesus. How can a desire to ‘look good’ keep us from hearing the hard truth from Jesus?
3. (Luke 9:46-48) Greatness in Jesus’ kingdom comes from picking up a towel, not a title. Where do you see the temptation to ‘be the greatest’ in your own heart?
4. (Luke 9:49-50) Do you ever struggle to celebrate others successes? Are there ways you’ve tried to ‘protect your turf’ instead of celebrating others doing God’s work?
5. (Luke 9:51-56) Has your passion for truth ever lacked compassion? Where does self-righteous judgement and self-justification show up in your heart? What group of people would you be comfortable calling fire down on? How can you pray for them today?
