Notes Outline

OUTLINE:

  • Nothing is as it appears (Luke 6:20-26)
  • Treat others the way you want to be treated (Luke 6:27-36)
  • Judge others the way you want God to judge you (Luke 6:37-38)
  • Fix yourself before you try to fix others (Luke 6:39-45)
  • Talk is cheap (Luke 6:46-49)

QUESTIONS:

  1. (Luke 6:20-26) How does Jesus’ list of blessings and woes challenge our definition of success and failure? How has the cross redefined what ‘winning’ looks like in your own life?
  2. (Luke 6:27-36) When you are wronged, are you more likely to retaliate or withdraw? What might it look like to respond with gospel-rooted love instead?
  3. (Luke 6:37-38) What do your criticisms of others reveal about your own heart? What does it teach you about what is growing inside of you?
  4. (Luke 6:39-45) What ‘logs’ do you tend to overlook in your own life? What gifts has Jesus given us to help us identify our ‘logs’?
  5. (Luke 6:46-49) Jesus assumes difficulties will come. How do difficulties reveal what we've actually built our lives on? What recent pressure or hardship has shown you more clearly where your trust really lies?
