• Confidence to Cynicism (Luke 13:18-21)

QUESTIONS:

1. (Luke 13:10) The religious leaders had turned the blessing of sabbath into a burden. Where in your life have you seen something that began as a gift from God slowly become a duty or burden? What is one area of your life you need to ‘untie’ the burden of religion and rediscover the beauty of God’s blessing?
2. (Luke 13:11-14) Why do you think that it is easier to complain than to give thanks and be grateful, even when God is clearly at work? What helps you shift from grumbling to gratitude?
3. (Luke 13:15-17) What is the difference between a religious heart and a redeemed heart shown in this section? Where in your life might you be holding onto control rather than celebration and compassion?
4. (Luke 13:18-21) Humans love the “Wow factor”, Jesus seems to love the “Weak factor.” In what areas of your life are you tempted to chase the “Wow factor” (Recognition, quick results, visible success)? What small act of obedience could you plant this week that might look insignificant, but carry eternal impact?
