Luke: Follow Jesus - Pride Test

QUESTIONS:

1. (Luke 14:1-6) Jesus served the humble and the haughty alike. When was the last time someone’s behavior- whether humble or proud- revealed pride in your heart? How do you usually respond when someone unintentionally exposes pride in you (defensiveness, silence, anger)? What does this reveal about what you're trusting in?
2. (Luke 14:7-15) Jesus said, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled.” How do we see the same truth written into the laws of the natural world? Where are some areas of your life that you exalt yourself to keep control, image, or status instead of humbling yourself?
3. (Luke 14:16-21) Why is it difficult for us to receive the gospel as a free gift rather than something we can earn or deserve? Deep down, what part of you still wants to prove you're worthy of God’s love? What would it look like to rest in Him rather than perform for Him today?
